Wicked Circus Slot Review

Released: October 2016

The Wicked Circus slots game is produced by Yggdrasil Gaming. Yggdrasil Gaming take their name from Norse mythology where Yggdrasil is a magical tree where dragons lived and Odin sacrificed himself. Yggdrasil Gaming are one of the smaller slot development companies on the market at the moment – primarily focusing on lottery and scratch card game – and do not offer a full casino platform. They lease their games out to casinos using other platforms as a bolt on package. Yggdrasil Gaming publish the Return to Player/House Edge of their slots games within the game help file. The House Edge of Wicked Circus is between 3.50% and 25%. This range is accounted for by the potential for player strategy to impact the outcome.

As if clowns weren’t scary enough!

The Wicked Circus game has 5 reels which are 3 symbols high. There are 5 paylines and you can bet one coin on each of the paylines. Wins pay both left to right and right to left.

The ‘Joker’ symbol is Wild.

There are two bonus features when playing Wicked Circus. The first bonus feature is activated when you receive any winning combination. When this happens your win will be banked at the top of the reels and you will enter ‘Jokerizer’ mode. Your chances to receive a win are increased in Jokerizer mode. Each spin in Jokerizer mode costs 20 coins and Jokerizer mode ends when you have either spent all the coins that that triggering spin (and any accumulated winnings) awarded or you receive 2 or more of the Joker Wild symbol which will award a mystery cash prize and the mystery prize is 500 coins or more. At any point you can choose to collect the coins you currently have in the bank.

The second bonus feature is triggered when you receive two or more of the Joker Wild symbol while in the Jokerizer mode. When this happens you can choose to Hold the reels with the Joker Wild symbols and respin the other reels. This option cost 60 coins per spin.

Conclusion

Wicked Circus is a very visually attractive game and the bonus features are certainly unusual. That player strategy can make a difference to this game is very endearing. However, given that the best possible strategy can only result in an average House Edge, the optimum strategy is not known and poor strategy can result in potentially catastrophic House Edge levels, Wicked Circus is probably better avoided.
