Wild Rails Slot Review

Released: July 2019

The Wild Rails slot game can be found at casinos offering Play ‘n Go software. Play ‘n Go are a growing providers in the industry and have a rapidly expanding portfolio of both slots games and clients. They do offer a full casino platform, but primarily seem to be used as a bolt on package for extra slots games. Play ‘n Go do publish the Return to Player (RTP)/House Edge information for their slots games within the game help files. As such we know that the house edge for the Wild Rails slot is 4%.

The Wild Rails slot game has 5 reels and each reel is 4 symbols high. The game uses traditional paylines, with 30 in total playing from left to right.

Special Symbols

Wild – The Wild symbol for Wild Rails is the “Wild Carriage” and will substitute for all symbols, except Scatters. The Wild symbol is also the most valuable symbol in the slot. Each reel is described in the paytable as a train, meaning there are 4 trains in total. Each Wild train has the potential to leave 5 Wild Carriages on the reels at once.

Scatter – The “Gold Train” is the Wild Rail’s Free Spins symbol. You need three or more of them anywhere on the reels to trigger the slot’s feature. The “Gold Train” symbol is also a paying symbol, which means that it will pay out in combinations of 3 or more without needing to form a payline. It also happens to be one of the most valuable symbols in the slot. The “Gold Train” symbol becomes Wild, substituting for all other symbols, during the Free Spins feature.

Features

Free Spins – 3, 4 or 5 “Gold Train” Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels at once will trigger 5, 7 or 10 Free Spins respectively. Every spin during the Free Spins guarantees you a Wild Train on the reels. Every 3 Scatter that land on the reels wins you an additional Wild Train and 1 Free Spin. 4 Wild Trains will win you 3 additional Free Spins.

Conclusion

Wild Rails is an unorthodox looking slot game, simply because the reels spin horizontally instead of vertically. It is a very minor change, one that is purely aesthetic but still very effective. Whilst I am on the subject of aesthetics it is worth pointing out that this slot looks incredible. There is a 1920’s Art Deco look to Wild Rails that makes you feel as if you are spinning reels inside an Agatha Christie novel. The slot is lush and elaborate and has clearly had a lot of time and energy put into its design. The features are OK, albeit fairly limited. I like how everything ties in around the theme, again highlighting a degree of imagination that you are not going to see from most slot games. The house edge is what it almost always is when a new Play ‘N Go slot hits the market, which is neither good or bad, just a little disappointingly predictable. This is a game worth checking out, even if it is just to see reels spinning in a different direction.
