Wild Seas Slot Review

The Wild Seas game can be found at casinos offering Elk Studios software. Elk Studios are a small but quickly growing casino software developer primarily focusing on the mobile market. At the present time they only offer slots games. Players should be aware that this software provider includes ‘betting strategies’ as an automated feature. These should be avoided. They offer no mathematical gain to the player and increase the risk of large losses in comparison to your bankroll. As a standard Elk Studios do publish the RTP/House Edge information for their slots games within their game paytable. As such we can say that the House Edge of Wild Seas is 3.7%.

Wild Seas is made up of 5 reels, each one 4 symbols high. There are no paylines, instead the game works using way lines, of which there are 178 in total.

Special Symbols

Wild – The “Chest” symbol is Wild, substituting for all symbols other than “Barrels”. The “Wild Seas Flag” symbol is also wild, substituting for all other symbols and helping to trigger the bonus round. “Sailing Ships” are also wild but are only available during the bonus feature.

Anne Bonny – The most valuable symbol in the game is the “Anne Bonny” symbol. She’s easy to spot because she is the only female pirate on the reels. 3 “Anne Bonny” symbols in a winning combination will award you with 250 coins. 4 “Anne Bonny” symbols in a winning combination will award you with 500 coins and 5 “Anne Bonny” symbols in a winning combination will award you with 1000 coins.

Bonus Features

Break the Convoy – To trigger the “Break the Convoy” Bonus feature you need to land 2 of the “Wild Seas” symbols on a single spin. When you do this you will have 1 of the 3 Captains chosen for you; either the red “English Captain”, the blue “French Captain” or the green “Portuguese Captain”. However, it is important to note that the captain you choose offers nothing other than a different aesthetic to the game. Once the captain has been chosen the reel furthest to the right will fill with “Sailing Wild” Ship symbols. With each spin they will move one reel to the left. Once they have moved one space to the left there is a chance that a “Pirate Ship” will appear on the right-hand reel and shoot the ships. If a “Pirate Ship” does appear it will shoot any“Sailing Wild” in the same row as it. Each ship has 3 lives but being shot once will damage the ship enough that it sticks in place for a turn. If a ship is hit 3 times it will be replaced by a sticky wild “Chest” and it unlocks the “Loot the Treasure” Bonus.

Loot the Treasure – During this stage of the bonus, the “Sailing Wild” symbols will disappear and wild “Chests” will be in play. If a “Pirate Ship” shoots a “Chest” it will stick for a turn. There are also “Barrel” symbols in play now. If the “Pirate Ship” shoots a “Barrel” the bonus round is over.

“Wild Seas” is a great looking game, taking full advantage of the pirate theme. The game has a narrative that is nicely introduced through a very elaborate opening sequence, which, if you can get over the terrible French accent, is almost entertaining. The bonuses are well thought out, imaginative and pretty fun to play. The house edge is average, meaning that the game has some value to offer too. However, the “Advanced Betting Strategies” that are built into this game are sold as an advantageous game feature, when these strategies offer the player no improvement over flat betting. The reality is that if you increase your bet, you’re more likely to lose money than you are to make any. This is poor practice, that drags everything positive about the game down. We would be highly critical of any website offering bogus betting strategies so a game developer doing this is even more problematic for us. If these “Advanced Betting Strategies” were not in place I’d be giving this game a rave review, so here’s hoping that Elk Studios see sense and remove this from future releases.
