Yokozuma Clash Slot Review

Released August 2019

The Yokozuna Clash slot game is produced by Yggdrasil Gaming. Yggdrasil Gaming take their name from Norse mythology where Yggdrasil is a magical tree where dragons lived and Odin sacrificed himself. Yggdrasil Gaming are one of the smaller slot development companies on the market at the moment – primarily focusing on lottery and scratch card game – and do not offer a full casino platform. They lease their games out to casinos using other platforms as a bolt on package. Yggdrasil Gaming publish the Return to Player/House Edge of their slot games within the game help file. The House Edge of Yokozuna Clash is 3.6%.

Yokozuna Clash is a 5 reel game that is 3 symbols high. The slot does not use paylines, instead you form wins when you land 3 or more identical symbols across adjacent reels, playing in both directions. There is 243 different ways to win in total.

Special Symbols

Valuable Symbols – The most valuable symbols in this slot are the “Red Eagle” symbols.

Wild – Wild symbols will substitute for all symbols other than Free Spins.

Free Spins – 2 or more of the Free Spins symbols will trigger the feature.

Bonus Features

Tournament Free Spins – The Tournament Free Spins are triggered when you land 2 or more of the Free Spins symbols. You are not given a set number of Free Spins. Instead you take part in a Sumo tournament and once your fighter has been thrown from the ring the feature ends. Before the feature begins you will be assigned a fighter and an opponent at random. Each time you spin the reels you have the chance to either push your opponent to the right or be pushed to the left. If you are pushed off the reels the feature ends, if you push your opponent off the reels then you will move up to the next level.

Tournament Free Spins (How to Win) – Every time you land a win from the left to right side of the reels then you will push your opponent to the left and towards the end of the reels. However, every time you land a win from right to left you opponent will push you to the right. There is a battle bar above the reels that will allow you to keep track of the fight. There are 7 steps in total.

Player’s Fighters – There are two fighters that you can be assigned, each one comes with different special features and both are described below:

Riku (Blue Shorts) – Riku can randomly add 1 to 2 Wilds at any point during the base game. He can add 1 to 3 Wilds during the Free Spins semi-final and 2-4 Wilds during the final. Riku has an attack power of 2.

Haru (Green Shorts) – Haru can randomly a x2 or a x3 multiplier during the base game. He can add x2, x3 or a x4 multiplier during the Free Spins and also has an attack power of 2.

Opponents – As you move up the levels you take on different opponents, with each one becoming more difficult to defeat. However, your opponents still add features to the reels:

Daisuke (Larger Sumo) – Daisuke will add a random 1-3 Wilds to the reels during the Semi Final. He has a power rating of 3.

O’Conner (Wears a Kilt) – O’Conner will add either a x2, a x3 or a x4 multiplier to the reels during the Semi Final. He has a power rating of 3.

Yokozuna (Red Monster) – Yokozuna adds random between 2-4 random Wilds and a x2, x3 or a x4 multiplier to the reels during the final. He has a power rating of 4 and if you defeat him to win the tournament all of your winnings will be multiplied by 2.

Sumo Clash Feature – If you can land 5 identical symbols across 5 reels then you will trigger the Sumo Clash feature. When this happens and additional 2 or 3 additional identical symbols will be added to the reels to increase you win.

Conclusion

At first I wasn’t sold on Yokozuna Clash. It looks nowhere near as good as most Yggdrasil slots and my initial thoughts were to dismiss it. But after spinning the reels a few times I soon realised that this is a brilliant slot, full of pretty much everything we ask for. The whole thing is set up like a computer game and you spend your time spinning the reels waiting to enter the ring and do battle with another fighter. The Free Spins are such good fun, but you will struggle to see them all the way through to the final. You get wilds and you get Sumo Clash feature too, so I guess you could have expected a few more features from the designers at Yggdrasil. The house edge is good is also good. If Yokozuna Clash was bit shinier and had a few more features it would be a guaranteed 10 out of 10 from us.
