Player's Complaint

Hi,

I recently placed a bet on NetBet for £100 on a baseball game. As per the terms of the website, if the pitchers detailed in the bet selection do not start the game, then that bet is void and therefore the stake returned. This was confirmed in the following email I received (AUG 15, 2013 | 03:12PM BST) from NetBet when querying...

"Dear [EDIT],

We contact you following the latest conversation with one of our Live Chat operators.

By means of this message we wish to inform you that, in basseball, for MLB wagers, as stipulated also in our Terms and Conditions:

‘If one or both of the starting pitchers are not exactly as specified at the time of the bet, the wager will be deemed “no action”.’

Should you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us.

Best regards,

[EDIT]

The pitchers detailed in Bet ID [EDIT] did not start the game, and therefore the bet should have been voided, and the £100 stake returned. I have provided a list of various websites proving this to be the case to NetBet.

My first email to them, making them aware of the bet was as follows (AUG 15, 2013 | 05:16PM BST): -

"Hi [EDIT],

Thank you for the information below.

In that case then should Bet ID [EDIT] be voided and the £100 stake returned to my account, as the pitchers detailed at the time of the bet did not start the game.

Many Thanks,

[EDIT] (Username: [EDIT])"

It is now 2 weeks later, and the issue has still not been resolved. I have emailed NetBet twice since, on 17/08/13 and 22/08/13, been on their live chat system 3 times, and every time i get the same reply. Please see email below which I received, which is the same reply I get even on live chat...

Dear [EDIT],

Thank you for your message.

Please be assured that your situation has been transferred to our Department in Charge for further check-outs on this matter.

We inform you that you will have a reply within the next 48 hours.

We appreciate your patience and we state our availability for any further questions or remarks.

As you can imagine, this is becoming extremely frustrating for myself. I think more so for the fact that they are just making no effort whatsoever to come to a resolution on this.

I have had a bet with another British bookmaker, who voided on this exact same Bet, with the same pitchers detailed, which I can provide details on if you think it will help my case.

My registered details with NetBet are as follows...

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Hi jonnycm - thanks for getting in contact.

I'll get in contact with NetBet now and see what I can sort out.

If you could forward on details of the void bet at the other UK bookmaker to [email protected] it would be useful. A screen shot of your account showing the void bet with sensitive info removed would be ideal if possible.

Thanks and I'll let you know as soon as I hear back about this issue.

Hi jonnycm,

I'm still waiting for a response to the email I sent you last week. According to the Toronto Blue Jays website both the pitchers listed in your bet were in fact the first pitchers for their respective teams. As such there does not appear to be any grounds to void the bet?

Can you provide further information as to why you feel the bet should be voided?

Thanks

I've just received a follow up on this issue from the player. This issue has been completely resolved and has been a misunderstanding from the start.

The player's bet was as follows;

The Toronto Blue Jays website shows the following stats for that game;

As the above shows, the starters in the wager did in fact start and as such there's no reason for the bet to be voided. The confusion occurred due to another major UK sportsbook voiding the bet on these grounds and the player assuming that the UK sportsbook had got it right.

This complaint can be considered resolved to everyone's satisfaction!
